LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS
SAINT MARY OF SORROWS: A COMMUNITY OF SERVICE
Each program will be from 6:30 to 7:30 and will include a simple supper of soup and bread.
February 19 - Haiti Earthquake Response - How Can We Help?
Guest speakers will be Rev. Gerry Creedon and Jim McDaniel. They will describe
the effects of the devastation and what the future might hold for Haiti.
February 26 –
A Bhutanese Family's Journey From a Refugee Camp in Nepal
to a New Home in Northern Virginia.
Try to imagine yourself in their place! Speakers will be members of Saint Mary’s
ministry on behalf of our ‘adopted’ family and Catholic Charities – Office of
Migration and Refugee Services.
March 12 – The Church’s Best Kept Secret- Social Ministry Can Be Integrated Into
Religious Formation!
Director Peg Telesca and teachers in our religious education program will
describe the most recent ideas and methods for teaching our young what it means
to be called to Christian service.
March 19 – A Premier Service Organization – The Knights of Columbus of Saint
Mary’s.
Grand Knight, Dan Turgeon, and other members will describe the many ways the
Knights assist our brothers and sisters in need.
March 26 - Saint Mary’s Youth Program.
Our youth ministers, Brian Kissinger and Nate Smith, will tell us about the
opportunities our
youth receive to
serve others throughout the year.
